Labour & Delivery Suites

The Labour Delivery Unit is specially designed for the safety and comfort of mothers and babies. To assist you is our staff of highly skilled, professional Obstetricians, Anaesthetists, Paediatricians and Neonatalogists. We also have 2 Lactation Educators who can support and counsel you in overcoming initial problems associated with breastfeeding.

At Gleneagles Intan Labour Delivery Unit, you will find:

• 8 Delivery Suites (Single occupancy) with attached bathrooms. Each is equipped with maternal/fetal monitoring, medical gases, and television, to ensure privacy and comfort for your delivery.

• Centralised monitoring. All maternal/fetal monitors are linked to a centre monitor system at the nurses’ counter. This enables the nurses at the counter to have an overview of all tracings. The system also provides an audio and visual alarm to alert the nurses if there is any abnormality.
• A fully equipped nursery, isolation room and neonatal intensive care unit to cater to the varying needs of your baby.

• 2 breastfeeding rooms strategically located adjacent to the nursery to ensure privacy for you when you spend that very special time together. Rooming in of babies with mothers is strongly encouraged.

• A full range of support services to cater to all needs, including dietetics, physiotherapy, etc.

• A 24-hour operating theatre to cater to any emergencies.

At Gleneagles Intan, your spouse/partner is permitted to be with you during delivery. You are welcome to submit a Birth Plan in advance if you wish. Tours of the Labour Delivery Unit can be arranged with the Front Office Supervisor if desired.
